Shera L. (Baldwin) Dickie, DVM
Dr. Dickie was born in Port Charlotte, FL, but grew
up in many places around the south, including Atlanta, GA (she is a
rabid
Braves
fan) and Newport, AR. She graduated from Newport High School and then
attended Lyon College
(then Arkansas College). At LC she attained a Bachelor's of Science degree
in Biology with a minor in Speech and Theater, graduating in 1994. From
there, she progressed to Iowa
State University, graduating with her DVM in 1998. Her interests in
vet school included the student chapter of the American Association of
Feline Practitioners of which she is still an active member. She was also
involved in neonatal foal ICU, Canine Club, and Veterinary Ambassadors.
After graduation, she worked at All Pets Animal Hospital
in Ames, IA. There her proudest moment included working on five different
species in one day. In 1999, she joined the staff of Allen Animal Hospital
in Livonia. In 2003, seeking something different, she took a job at Donovan
Veterinary Hospital, in Detroit. It was a great learning experience for
her, but after a year, she returned to Allen Animal Hospital and began
working on her dream of a feline exclusive hospital. She is still currently
seeing clients there two nights a week.
Dr. Dickie currently resides in Dearborn with her husband
Steve, who is a high school science teacher, and her son Michael.
In addition to being an active member of the American
Association of Feline Practitioners, Dr. Dickie is also a member of
the American Veterinary Medical
Association. She is currently liscenced by the State of Michigan to
practice veterinary medicine.
